OSHA 500 Level Courses 

The OSHA Outreach Training Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. The program also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. This is a voluntary program and does not meet training requirements for any OSHA standards.

These courses are taught in conjunction with Great Plains OSHA Education Center.

OSHA 510 - OSH Standards for Construction Industry
The OSHA 510 course for private sector personnel covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA construction standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. This course is the prerequisite for the OSHA 500 Trainer course.

OSHA 500 - Trainer Course for Construction Industry
The OSHA 500 course authorizes participants who complete this train-the-trainer course to conduct 10 & 30 hour outreach classes to the construction industry and issue OTI Construction 10 & 30 hour participation cards. Course time is spent learning and practicing adult training techniques. Students will participate in the development and delivery of lectures covering construction safety topics during class.
Prerequisite: participants must provide verification of 510 class attendance, and management confirmation of at least 5 years of relevant safety experience.

OSHA 502 - Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers
The OSHA 502 course is designed for those instructors who have completed the OSHA 500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry and who are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program. This program provides an update on OSHA compliance, standards and industry best practices and will allow instructors to continue to conduct OSHA 10 & 30 hour outreach training. Given the Outreach Training Program for Construction Industry Safety and Health, up-to-date OSHA Construction Standards, and current status as an Authorized Outreach Trainer, the participants will be able to demonstrate professional development in their field by applying effective adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify, define and explain construction industry hazards and acceptable corrective measures in accordance with the 29 CFR 1926 OSHA Construction Standards and Industry best Practices as they continue to teach 10 and 30 hour OSHA Outreach Courses.
Prerequisite: OSHA #500 Trainers Course in OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry. Authorized Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend this course once every four years (4) to maintain their trainer status.

Prior to registration, students must provide a copy of their current Outreach Training Program trainer card or an official transcript showing successful completion of the OSHA #500 Trainer Course in OSHAStandards for Construction from their respective OSHA Training Institute EducationCenter, for verification of trainer status.

OSHA 511 - OSH Standard for General Industry
The OSHA 511 course for private sector personnel covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. This course is the prerequisite for the OSHA #501 Trainer course.

OSHA 501 - Trainer Course for General Industry
The OSHA 501 course authorizes participants who complete this train-the-trainer course to conduct 10 & 30 hour outreach classes to general industry and issue OTI general industry 10 and 30 hour participation cards. Course time is spent learning and practicing adult training techniques. Students will participate in the development and delivery of lectures covering general industry safety topics during class.
Prerequisite: participants must provide 511 class attendance verification and management confirmation of at least 5 years of relevant safety experience.

OSHA 503 - Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers
The OSHA 503 course is designed for those instructors who have completed the OSHA 501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the General Industry and who are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program.
